Terroirs & Varietals

Terroirs …

The phrase “Vignerons Between Land and Sky” refers to the essence of terroir: Soil, climate and the work of the winemaker and their team.

The vineyards of ALMA CERSIUS are made up of two major terroirs:

  • 850 hectares of rolled stones sometimes bigger than your fist. This warm soil is draining and reflects heat and light, promoting the maturity of grape bunches.
  • 350 hectares of alluvial clay soil, thanks to the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea, thus a cool soil.

… And Varietals

Alma Cersius has developed over the past several years a policy of varietal wines.

The vineyards are made up of 24 different varietals, with the most important whites being Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Viognier al;so finds its place on a terroir of rolled stones.

For the reds, three great leaders are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

Grenache, Pinot Noir and Mourvèdre have asserted themselves over the years.
